Waiting for Spring to Burst Into Bloom

Every year, I anticipate the blooming of the cherry blossoms here in beautiful RVA. It’s one of the first signs of spring after what is inevitably a long, dreary winter. But this year, with COVID still looming heavy in the chilly air, winter was particularly isolating. So I was uncommonly excited to witness the promise of new life frosting the trees of Maymont Park in shades of white, blush, and pink. Those petals filled me with hope and warmed my heart. It was exactly the inspiration I needed! What better way for to celebrate this season of new life than to capture nature’s stunning awakening in tandem with my stunning clients? Spring mini sessions were officially in bloom!

Why I Love Mini Sessions

In the past few years, I’ve begun seizing any opportunity I can to provide mini sessions for my clients. I love that I can create special photo sessions for clients who are short on time at a fraction of my custom package investment. Essentially, mini sessions are a way to give my clients the EmmiClaire Photography experience in a mini format with the same basic outcome – confident, authentic, memorable images to cherish for a lifetime.

Choosing the Location – Maymont

I generally choose a single location for photographing mini sessions. This allows me to serve more clients, as I’m able to book sessions back to back. Plus capitalizing on the season and the natural beauty of a single location means I’m able to familiarize myself with a stunning backdrop and really focus on the special moments in each session.

Those of you who follow my work know that Maymont is one of my favorite locations. It makes the perfect backdrop for any type of photo session. When the weather warms, most of my clients are looking for a natural background, and Maymont has so many different natural scenes to offer in one location.
