2021 has been a strange year for all of us (thanks, COVID). But it’s been even stranger for high school seniors. If you’ve been to high school, you remember the anticipation of senior prom, spirit week, class competitions, and the long anticipated high school graduation. I can’t imagine attending all of my classes virtually, missing sporting events, school dances, or even just missing the simple moments that made my high school experience so valuable and cherished – chatting with my friends between classes, lunch with my favorite teacher, practicing with my team. That’s why I’ve been especially grateful when parents and students have reached out to schedule their senior portrait sessions. For many, having senior portraits taken has been a shining beacon of normalcy, one of the few opportunities to engage in what would( in any other year) be considered a normal senior experience.
Campbell reached out to me back in April. Originally Campbell had planned on having her senior portraits taken back in September, but after waiting patiently for COVID to subside and then waiting on another unresponsive photographer, she was on a deadline. Enter EmmiClaire Photography.
Campbell’s High School Experience
Campbell currently attends Glen Allen High School in Henrico County, VA. She loves to sing and has served on her youth group’s worship team since she was a freshmen. She loves all things artsy, and has recently taken up jewelry making in her spare time. Some of her favorite memories from high school are attending school events with her friends – homecoming, football games, and Glen Allen High School’s Annual “Battle of the Classes.” While she’s looking forward to graduation, Campbell will miss her teachers, especially since she didn’t get the opportunity to see any of them in person this year due to COVID.
Campbell’s Plans for Her Bright Future
Campbell will be attending Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia in the fall. She’s most looking forward to being in a new town and meeting new people.
Campbell’s Vision for Her Senior Portrait Session
“Don’t be afraid to share what your creative vision and what you want your pictures to look like! Emily really helped me become a little more confident posing and smiling for the camera even in the short time we had.”
From the get-go, I adored Campbell’s vision for her session. She chose one of my favorite RVA locations for her session – Belle Isle.
My Favorites Moments from Campbell’s Senior Portrait Session
It’s difficult to choose my favorites from Campbell’s Senior Portrait Session, but I love the youthful elements of fun we were able to introduce when Campbell tossed her graduation cap in the air.
Campbell really seemed to be most in her element when we were playing on the rocks at Belle Isle.
I also loved snapping a few moments of Campbell reaching for her mother for support. I could really feel the bond between them.
Choosing EmmiClaire Photography for Your Senior Portrait Session
“I felt comfortable with Emily right away and was very thankful for how flexible she was during my session. I am not totally comfortable in front of the camera, but she immediately helped me with my concerns… My favorite memory from my session with Emily was having her hop in the car with me and my mom to drive around to different locations! Our time at Belle Isle was beautiful but also so fun. The three of us really had a great time shooting out there!” – Campbell
