When I was contacted to do some fall family portraits and maternity photography for the Jimenez family, I was excited. The beautiful fall foliage of Virginia provides a beautiful backdrop for family photography, and I love getting to know the families that I shoot! Plus, capturing these precious moments in time for an expectant mother is such a wonderful experience.

From the moment we arrived at the chosen session location, I could see the spark of the Jimenez family. The love and respect that this family has for one another shine brightly. Jacie is expecting their fourth child, and her joyful glow was infectious! I couldn’t wait to share these beautiful portraits with them to keep as lifelong memories of their happy family.

The Jimenez’ carefully coordinated their outfits, choosing earthy and rich tones to match the autumn palette. The simple and tasteful choices really brought everything together visually. The affection between the couple was palpable, and the children blossomed behind my camera; little Elerie stole the show with her poses!

After the shoot, I caught up with Jacie to hear a little more about her favorite moments. Posing with families is essential, and she shared this tidbit of wisdom for everyone considering a shoot:

“Be willing to be flexible and do things or sit/stand in ways that you may think are awkward; Emily knows what she’s doing and the pics turn out great!”
